Every month we receive
more than our share of Lost Dog calls!... unfortunately not all of them
belonged to Dog-E-Data so all we could do was point finders to their
local pound.
Our members are all very glad they joined our 24/7 'Life Of The Dog'
Australia wide service
Paula
L. from Melbourne VIC sure is. Her dog Rhuben
STILL manages to get out thanks to a friends dog... some friend!!
Rhuben is now officially our 'most escaped dog' at 9 times in 12 months.
Some accolade!!
The Dog-E-Data tag seems to make people
call even if there's no dog attached!
We don't often receive them, but some calls are just reporting 'found
tags'... When we first investigated our tags etc, we made sure our split
rings were the strongest you could buy - seems some dogs are REALLY
tough!!
Still - it shows how making it easy for people to phone a FREECALL
number, they will!
JUST
SOME
OF THE DOGS LOST /FOUND BY DOG-E-DATA
As there are so many every month we're just giving you the shortened
'event' version of their story if available. Needless to say, we have
some very happy members right now!

- Gemma
When
is a Lost Dog REALLY lost???... As far as we're concerned, when
somebody calls our FreeCall 1800 number. This strange case happened when
'Frank' was out walking by himself, minding his own business...he came
across a 'cute little dog' that he thought was lost.
Dutifully he called 1800 444 364 and reported Gemma as being
'found'.
We called Gemma's owner Val, who lives near a Leash Free park.
She said she'd just been out walking and was expecting her dog Gemma
home 'any moment now'!... seems Gemma often takes herself on
'Leash Free' walkies....!
Anyway Gemma is home safe and we've advised Val it might be best to
monitor Gemma's' activities... after all, Frank couldn't have known she
was on her way home now could he??
2019 -
Beethoven ... AGAIN! - He has been saved by Dog-E-Data 3 times
already!
4703
- Lulu
Lulu got out....
Lulu was found - safe & well within 10 minutes!...
Lulu went home...
Wow Dog-E-Data works fast!
(Couldn't miss her tag could you!?!)
4713 -
Rhuben ... AGAIN!
Say no more!
1389 - Tag only
Shows how people will phone a FreeCall number even if there's no dog
attached!
The dog - Matilda - and her owners were blissfully unaware!... Oh
well....

- Maia
We
get calls all hours of the day & night. Tonight was no exception.
Friday 27 Sept 10:30pm. Foxy Fox Terrier Maia decided to go
walkabout in Newtown NSW. The call came in ok but when we tried to call,
mum and dad were obviously out - and busy enjoying a Friday night on the
town!! - Their mobile was off too.
We always try and work out a solution to problems like these and among
other solutions, we ask if the finder can hold the dog for an hour or
two... in this case it ended up being all night. Anyway ay 7am we
re-united Maia and her humans. We'd like to thank the finder Megan and
her partner for both being so understanding and helpful - especially as
keeping pets of any kind in their small home is not allowed!!
4569 - Jake (now
4439)
Jessica B from Acacia Gardens has several dogs. She took
delivery of her third and decided as it was a rescue dog, she would put
one of her other dog's tags on it until she could get a new one from
us.
Good thing!... Within days Jake - a rescue dog - was doing a
Houdini... smart thinking Jessica - we don't recommend it normally for
many reasons, but this time was the right decision!
4275 - Bear
Now Bear's dad Mark absolutely loves his Rottie .... he must do
because he joined Dog-E-Data and told us he was off to 'see
Australia'... What a great way to go!...
Desert, dog and just yourself...! We knew we'd be hearing from Bear and
Mark again soon!...and we did... not more than a month after Mark left
Victoria and ended up at a friend's property in Queensland, and we get a
call. Bear hadn't gone far, but it shows ALL dogs are inquisitive -
especially when you are travelling.
1258 -
Shamu
Some
dogs just don’t want to be found!!....
at least that’s the impression we got when
‘Shamu’, ID-1258
a beautiful but somewhat stubborn Rough Collie – decided to do a
Houdini one Sunday evening early in September.
Members and regular readers would know by now that most of our dogs are
found before their owners even know anything about it....
for non-members, it’s because our bright yellow tags give finders an
easy way to say "Hey – I found your dog!"
Read Shamu's Disapearing Act!…

1763 -
Buddy
Is
this your dog??? Do you know the owner?
Sadly Buddy has been found but in extremely poor condition. The
database details we have are incorrect.
PLEASE CHECK YOURS NOW!!!
He was originally adopted from the NSW Animal Welfare League. I know...
I took the photo! (Brian)
Along with Dog-E-Data, the finder has tried everything to locate the
(registered) owners but now Buddy must spend some time in the pound.
It is obvious something has happened and the original owner has moved
on.
It is important to realise that legally, all dogs whose owners cannot be
found in a reasonable time - assumed to be a day or two, MUST be
surrendered to a council pound for processing. This means their
microchip - if any - will be scanned. The registered owner will be
contacted by phone - if no response a letter will be sent to the last
known address.
If no reply the dog will be held for 14 days (7 days if no chip) - in
NSW only - other states may be as short as 2 -3 days! -
Then the dog will be assessed for re-homing (Buddy has already been
through this at least once!!) If no-one wants him, he will be put to
sleep...
End of story...End of Buddy!
Our Message??...
KEEP YOUR DETAILS UP TO DATE IN ANY DATABASE YOU ARE REGISTERED IN...
There are many reasons dogs - and people get into situations they would
rather not be in...
We won't 'moralise' here - if you cannot or don't want to continue
looking after your dog, PLEASE make sure you take it to a
welfare organisation and explain your situation... it is the ONLY humane
thing to do.
